A Russian plane flying to Moscow has made an emergency landing in Bangkok.

The Aeroflot Boeing 777 had taken off from the island of Phuket earlier today in the south of the country bound for the capital of Russia.

Flight AFL277 departed at 4:35pm local time before circling several times over the Andaman Sea to dump fuel and then changed course for an emergency landing at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Fire crews and ambulances were waiting alongside the runway as the aircraft, seen taxiing in the video, landed safely at night.

Flight records show that approaching planes were moved onto a different runway for landing. The Russian twin-aisle jet then touched down at 9:15 pm local time.

The normal flight time from Phuket to Bangkok is around 90 minutes. But the Aeroflot was in the air for almost five hours.
