Locals helped rescue a stray kitten stuck in the batter of an MG electric car.

The residents called the animal rescuers to assist them in luring the scared feline out that crawled through the narrow space inside the vehicle in Samut Songkhram, Thailand, on February 9 evening.

Footage shows the team members searching for the tabby moggy. They could hear its sharp cries, but it was too deep in the compartment.

Good Samaritans helped to lure it out with food but without success.

They used a camera to locate where the kitten exactly was and began to remove some of the car parts to make space.

Volunteers placed the camera to see if the cat moved away. After an hour of operation, they successfully retrieved the moggy.

Car owner Peerapong Boonmee said: 'I went to a temple earlier that day, and when I stopped near a petrol station to rest at night.

'When I was starting to leave, another driver told me a cat was in my car. I opened the hood and heard it crying.'

Peerapong adopted the kitten and took it home with him.
