A mother's dimple surgery went horrifically wrong - leaving her looking like Frankenstein.

Mum-of-one Laila Kumrang, 41, visited the clinic when they offered a discount on surgery to have the smile lines added to her face.

Laila said the PNK Clinic doctor fixed her left cheek smoothly, but she felt a stabbing pain on the right side of her face while the medic worked on it in Bangkok, Thailand on December 3.

She claimed that there was a bulge in her cheek before blood surged out, but the doctor reassured her everything was fine.

The mother and businesswoman said she trusted the doctor despite her swollen cheek and paid her bill of 2,300 baht (54.09 GBP).

However, Laila said that the bleeding had not stopped after more than a week had passed.

Her face was also severely lopsided from the swelling of the wound inside her mouth.

Footage shows Laila on the way to the market when she had to stop to fix the gauze in her mouth soaked with blood.

At home, Laila had to constantly spit out blood on the tissue, which caused distress to the woman who had hoped to have a cute smile.

She is only receiving help this week after a charity took up her case on February 17.

She said: 'I saw a promo for dimples and bought the offer online. I went to my appointment on December 3 at 7:30 pm.

'Upon arriving, the doctor asked me where I wanted the dimples but did not explain the risks to me.

'The surgery went smoothly on the right side but when it was the right cheek's turn, it was so painful that I cried.

'There was so much blood that the assistant had to help with putting gauze over the wound.

'The doctor seemed shocked but tried to act normally, continued the procedure and said to me the bleeding would not affect my dimples.'

When the bleeding had not subsided, Laila returned to the clinic, but she claimed the doctor denied it had something to do with the surgery.

Laila was worried so she went to a hospital where medics confirmed that a blood vessel had torn.

She said: 'I tried to make the clinic and doctor accountable but they refused. They only told me that too much time had passed since the surgery.'

Laila sought help from the non-profit organisation Win Win and its founder Chalida Palamart coordinated with authorities her case.

The Pranangklao Hospital was contacted and Laila was taken there for a check-up.

Plastic surgeon Dr Paveena Lawanlakkana handled Laila's case. She said all surgeries could result in side effects.

She said: 'There was significant bleeding. We had to open up the wound to identify its source.

'We discovered two torn blood vessels but the external wounds had already healed.'

Medics inspected the affected blood vessels, stitched them, and cleaned the wound.

Laila's face remains lopsided but medics confirmed her condition is now stable.

Thailand Vice Minister for Public Health Thanakrit Jitareera also coordinated with Laila.

The vice minister said on February 17: 'We want to warn that dimple surgeries could be dangerous for beauty enthusiasts, as well as for those seeking cheek piercing as part of superstitious rituals.'

Authorities are now looking into the beauty clinic and whether they are operating with proper permits and licenses.

Thailand is well-known for its cosmetic surgery industry, offering high-quality procedures at relatively affordable prices compared to Western countries. However, some facilities operate without proper accreditation, putting patients at risk.
