Distressed British tourist saved from 'jumping off Bangkok airport'
This is the dramatic moment a distressed British tourist was saved from jumping off an airport flyover road in Thailand.
Bradley Arron Archambie, 30, sparked alarm when he climbed over the barriers on the approach to the Suvarnabhumi International Airport serving Bangkok on February 23.
Police cleared the elevated motorway on Exit Route 1 after receiving a report at around 8 pm.
They asked a passing Thai woman who could speak English to calm the troubled Brit tourist. She struck up a conversation while they organised a rescue team to approach the scene in an unmarked car.
Nerve-wracking footage shows Bradley standing precariously on the outer edge of the road as the woman chatted with him. Undercover officers then arrived in an SUV to grab him from behind. They wrestled him off the ledge before cuffing him and hauling him to the police station.
Police Colonel Jakrapong Nuchpadung, superintendent of the Suvarnabhumi Airport Police Station, praised the officers and the Thai woman for the well-executed plan that saved the Brit's life.
The officer said: 'The man was still visibly stressed and gave a confusing testimony.
'Authorities have contacted the British Embassy in the UK to inform his family. His relatives confirmed they will pick him up, but they have not specified when.'
The airport has a history of tourists plunging from its ledges and walkways.
In June 2023, Austrian tourist Tina Monika, 35, suffered severe injuries after throwing herself off the passenger terminal of the same airport. Shocked tourists watched as she hit the ground some 25ft below.
In October 2019, Finnish tourist Jurisoo Timo fell from the building's sixth floor and landed on the fourth storey. He was conscious and rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
In March 2017, Australian-Finnish national Alan Paul Grimes, 32, reportedly jumped to his death from the fourth floor of the same airport.
