An avalanche led to road closures in Cottonwood Canyons, Utah.

Motorists were stranded as the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) closed SR-210 due to avalanche activity on March 4.

The closure occurred as crews worked to manage heavy snow, with both natural and controlled avalanches blocking the route.

The situation caused significant delays, but the highway reopened after mitigation efforts.

UDOT warned of heavy travel delays and stopped traffic extending for miles.

Authorities said: 'Heavy delays when exiting parking areas and during downhill travel, visitors will be driving slow due to conditions. Please drive with caution and give ploughs room to clear!'
