Thousands of devotees joined Holi festival celebrations in India, marking the start of spring.

Footage shows thousands of locals gathered in Uttar Pradesh to celebrate the event on Friday, March 14, covering one another with vibrant colours, with some seen enjoying the festivities through dance.

Worshippers from multiple towns, including Vrindavan, Barsana, Nandgaon, and Mathura, celebrated the festivities in their communities.

Foreign tourists were also seen joining the gathering.

Holi is a vibrant Hindu festival celebrating the triumph of good over evil and the arrival of spring, marked by colourful powder-throwing, music, and festive gatherings. The festival commemorates the victory of Vishnu's devotee, Prahlad, over his tyrannical father, King Hiranyakashipu, and the burning of the demoness Holika, symbolising the triumph of good over evil.
