Friendly pet dogs joined elephants for a morning walk through a village.

The two pooches saw the adult jumbos with their youngs being led by mahouts along a road and ambled alongside them in Surin, Thailand.

Footage shows the canines following the herd. One of them approached too near the grumpy jumbo Pang Mae Hang Dee and was lightly tossed aside.

Resident Yenruthai Pajat, 38, walked behind the group together with the dogs on March 10.

Yenruthai said: 'Pang Mae Hang Dee is easily annoyed. She does not like when dogs are too close.

'But she does not hurt them. She wants to make room for her personal space.'

Elephants hold deep cultural and historical significance in Thailand, symbolising strength, wisdom, and royal power. Traditionally, they were used in warfare, logging, and religious ceremonies, but modern conservation efforts focus on protecting them from exploitation.

While some elephants still work in tourism, many are rescued and rehabilitated in sanctuaries. Today, Thailand is home to both wild and domesticated elephants, with conservationists advocating for ethical treatment and habitat preservation.
