Taxi driver transforms car into 'mobile garden' with over 80 plants
In Wenzhou, Zhejiang, there is a unique ride-hailing car filled with over 80 types of plants, transforming the vehicle into a "mobile garden." This extraordinary sight is the result of the passion and creativity of the driver, Mr. Liang.
Mr. Liang previously worked in the construction industry for many years before switching to driving a ride-hailing car in July last year. Having studied landscape architecture in university and always having a strong love for plants, he had already filled his home balcony with greenery. After changing careers, he decided to bring his hobby into his work. Initially, he placed a few small plants in his car as decoration, not expecting them to be so warmly received by passengers. Encouraged by their enthusiasm, he gradually expanded his collection while ensuring safety, eventually creating a true "mobile garden."
Caring for plants inside a car is no easy task. Mr. Liang put in significant effort to maintain them. He designed a special plant lamp on the armrest to provide extra light, regularly watered the plants while waiting for passengers or charging the car, and carefully removed wilted leaves. Safety remains a top priority—every pot is secured with Velcro, and plant height never exceeds the rear-view mirror to ensure an unobstructed driving view.
Mr. Liang selects resilient plant species that can withstand cold, heat, and drought, such as succulents, which thrive in the car’s environment. He also adjusts conditions based on the seasons, using air conditioning to cool the plants in summer and tilting the seats to allow more sunlight for succulents in winter.
This "mobile garden" not only brings passengers a refreshing and pleasant experience but has also become a beautiful and unique sight in Wenzhou.
