Violent clashes erupted between fans of Tunisian team Espérance Sportive de Tunis and South African side Mamelodi Sundowns on April 1.

Footage captured by Tendai Joe shows the moment the two sets of fans began throwing missiles and objects at each other during the Tunisian side's 1-0 loss.

The clip also shows one fan dangerously hanging from the stand. Another supporter is seen attempting to safely help him up.

Joe told Newsflare: "They were frustrated by the loss. They travelled from Tunisia to South Africa and expected a win. So they started attacking the winning team fans and a fight broke out.

"They were using flares and throwing missiles, they broke barricades and it got ugly. There were even injuries."

The South African side will travel to Tunis for the CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg.
