The woman called 911 at 10:32 p.m. to request help removing the squirrels from her home; crews with the White Settlement police and fire departments responded, according to a statement. Cpl. Will Poarch located the first squirrel under a blanket in the apartment’s hallway and used a laundry basket to trap it, the footage shows. Officer Haley Buck located the remaining squirrels behind a toilet in the apartment’s bathroom and delegated Poarch to capture them using the basket, the footage shows. “What’s up, fellas?” Poarch says before tossing a towel over the animals. “We’re friends. Come here.” The remaining two squirrels were released as well, police said. “You never know what call you may end up responding to; however, we are thankful that we could assist in restoring peace to this woman’s apartment,” police chief Christopher Cook said. Cook spoke to the woman, who said she was grateful for the officers’ assistance, according to the statement.
