On the afternoon of April 11, Xi County in Huanggang, Hubei Province, was hit by sudden severe weather. Hail, heavy rain, and strong winds struck simultaneously, causing roads to flood instantly and turning the ground into a river of ice.

According to local residents, the hail and wind lasted for about an hour, from 3 to 4 PM.

Due to the hail, many residents and businesses suffered property damage. Over 10,000 mu (approximately 1,650 acres) of crops across the county were affected, with some greenhouses overturned and seedlings severely damaged.

The Xi County Meteorological Observatory issued an orange severe convective weather warning at 1:48 PM on April 11, upgraded it to red at 4:27 PM, and issued a red rainstorm warning at 4:54 PM, alerting that thunderstorms, hail, and short-term heavy rainfall would occur in the following three hours.
