The Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 2023 has risen to 51,201, according to a statement released by Gaza-based health authorities on Sunday afternoon. The number of injuries has climbed to 116,869, according to the statement. In the past 24 hours, 44 Palestinians were killed and 145 others injured in Israeli military operations in the enclave, the health authorities said. The civil defense in Gaza on Saturday said in a statement that Israeli strikes targeted residential homes and tents sheltering displaced persons in the southern, northern, and central parts of the enclave. Local sources and eyewitnesses reported that Israeli artillery has been shelling the eastern and northern areas of Gaza City since early Saturday, targeting even previously evacuated homes. The Israel Defense Forces said in a Friday statement that their military operations targeting "terrorist organizations" were continuing in Gaza.
