A Chinese vlogger was attacked by his own countrymen in a crime-ridden tourist town in Thailand.

Li Hailong, 37, was drinking at a bar where he met two countrymen in 'Sin City' Pattaya, early morning on April 12.

He claimed the pair dragged him out of the shop and bundled him into a car before taking him to a secluded alley to allegedly beat him.

They left a battered Li bleeding on the ground before female motorcycle rider Buayen Hongsoda, 50, found him and called police for help.

Officers arrived and found the holidaymaker with a split lip, a bruised eye, and multiple abrasions on his body.

He introduced himself as a YouTuber, and claimed the suspects had 'shown him no mercy' when they allegedly assaulted him and snatched his mobile phone.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment as police launched an investigation.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Tolap Tinamat, a superintendent of the Tourist Police, said authorities detained one of the suspects named Chen, 43, on April 14.

He said: 'On the day of the incident, Mr. Chen and another Chinese man went out to drink and smoke in front of a restaurant.

'During that time, an allegedly drunk Mr Li walked up to him and started swearing at him in Chinese, mistaking him for a Korean. He said he was verbally assaulted despite telling Mr Li several times to stop.'

Chen claimed that Li had followed them into their car, prompting them to kick him out when they reached the secluded alley. He denied stealing Li's phone.

Pattaya City Police have vowed to track down the other suspect for prosecution.

Former fishing village Pattaya became popular with American troops on 'rest and relaxation' breaks in the 1950s and 1960s when the U.S. military had bases in Thailand while fighting Communism in Vietnam. Rural families are said to have even dressed their sons as women to cash in on the gold rush.

The handful of bars in the coastal town quickly grew and it is now the world's biggest sex holiday destination, with round-the-clock prostitution and drugs - a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah rife with crime and debauchery.

Government chiefs have attempted to clean up the city but regular violence, depravity and claims of corruption continue to blight its reputation.
