A child enjoyed riding downhill on an epic DIY track made from palm trees.

Footage shows the youngster sitting on a board attached to the rail constructed from the dried midribs of the trees in West Java, Indonesia.

The daredevil was wearing a helmet and used his leg to launch himself down the slope, gliding smoothly.

When he had enough momentum, the makeshift ride zoomed down, sending him speeding through the course.

Resident Rosi Rosmiati said: 'The track is made from palm fronds. We have been doing this since 1965.

'Children and adults love riding this, especially here in our village and the rest of West Java.'

Indonesia lies within the so-called 'palm belt' - a tropical region where oil palm cultivation is highly concentrated, particularly in West Africa and Southeast Asia.
