RABAT, MOROCCO APRIL 30, 2025: Thousands of Moroccans took to the streets of the capital on Wednesday, April 30, in a powerful show of solidarity with the Palestinian people, as Israel’s genocide in Gaza continues unabated. The mass demonstration was organized in response to calls from several civil society organizations, including the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization. Waving Palestinian flags and marching through the streets of Rabat, demonstrators chanted slogans denouncing ongoing massacre perpetrated by Israeli forces. The protest underscored growing public outrage around the world over the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the besieged enclave, with protesters braving the rain to make their voices heard. Former spokesman for the Moroccan government, Mustapha El-Khalfi, and former minister Idriss El Azami were among the protesters. The Israeli army renewed its assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering a Jan. 19 ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with the Palestinian resistance group Hamas. More than 52,300 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in ongoing Israeli genocide since October 2023, most of them women and children. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
