A toddler was injured by an explosion from an electric car while it was charging in China.

CCTV footage shows the child alone in the front yard, appearing fascinated by the vehicle in Nanjing, Jiangsu, on April 29.

Reports indicate that after opening the flap over the car's charging port, the youngster attempted to insert a coin, seemingly mistaking it for a vending machine.

Moments later, a puff of smoke is seen, and the child runs back to the front door, sobbing, with his right hand blackened by the electrical shock. Family members can be seen rushing to comfort him.

The toddler was taken to the hospital by his parents and discharged the same day after receiving treatment.

Authorities urged parents and guardians to closely supervise young children around electrical equipment, noting that their natural curiosity can lead to dangerous situations.
