Beauty pageant winners arrived in India for world contest.

Telangana government officials welcomed 51 contestants of the 72nd Miss World competition at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, Hyderabad.

Footage shows delegates from Mongolia, Denmark, Nicaragua, Latvia, Kazakhstan, and Singapore being escorted by police, with traditional music bands performing as part of the reception on May 6.

The contestants, along with 23 international pageant officials, were greeted with traditional ceremonies at the terminal.

The global beauty competition will officially commence on May 10 with an inauguration ceremony at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium and will conclude with the grand finale on May 31.

Miss Portugal, Maria Amelia Antonio, arrived on Monday, while Miss World Chairperson Julia Morley and event organiser Jonathan Marksha are also now in Hyderabad.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to ensure comprehensive preparations for the major event, which will host contestants from 116 countries.

As part of their itinerary, the contestants will tour major cultural and historical sites across Hyderabad and Telangana.

On May 15, they are scheduled to visit Pochampally, a UNESCO-recognised village celebrated for its intricate ikat weaving and Telia Rumal fabric.

During the visit, the delegates will observe traditional tie-and-dye techniques and interact with local weavers.

They will also explore iconic landmarks including Charminar, Laad Bazaar, and Chowmahalla Palace.

A visit to the DWCRA Bazaar will highlight the state's women's empowerment initiatives.

In preparation for the event, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has launched an extensive beautification drive across roads, intersections, tourist spots, and prominent buildings.

Miss World, established in 1951, is one of the oldest and most prestigious international beauty pageants, promoting humanitarian efforts and cultural exchange through its 'Beauty With a Purpose' platform.
