Oil rig crew save sea turtle tangled in mass of deadly ghost nets
A green sea turtle tangled in a mass of deadly ghost net was rescued by rig workers.
The marine reptile was seen floating with the clumps of trash near a natural gas drilling ship before workers pulled it aboard in Songkhla, Thailand.
Footage shows the turtle being freed from the strings with scissors on January 8.
The juvenile animal moved its flippers to stretch them after being restricted for an unknown time.
Two crew members helped each other release the animal and tossed it back into the water.
A ghost net is a fishing net that has been lost or abandoned at sea but continues to drift and trap marine life.
