A tourist was stunned by his hotel's spectacular window view of the Cambodia's Royal Palace.

Footage shows the stunning skyline with gold coloured rooftops and intricate details of the historic building in Phnom Penh - once the scene of the world's worst genocide.

The hallways were decorated with lacquer vases and traditional-themed wooden Khmer art.

There was a gym that also had a scenic view of the palace, along with a pool and garden.

The tourist said: 'I was impressed by the view from my hotel room in Phnom Penh. The window opened to a spectacular scene with the Royal Palace, lush green trees and skyscrapers behind them.'

Cambodia was blitzed by America in the 1970s and then by Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge, which executed almost all of the country's two million educated citizens, leaving predominantly children and rural peasants.

Even half a century later, the country is still suffering from the effects of the torturous era and is struggling to to rebuild.
