A brave father and son helped to free a stranded great white shark using rakes.

Nash Core and Parker, 11, were about to go searching for crabs in Ardrossan, Australia, on April 29 when they spotted a large shark stuck in the shallows.

Dramatic drone footage shows the three-metre-long animal clearly in some distress unable to move while two men carefully walk over to its tail.

After an hour of gentle coaxing using crab rakes, Nash and Parker, along with another man Tony Dew, managed to guide the shark into deeper waters.

Nash said: “It was a surreal feeling, I was still full of adrenaline and I guess in a little disbelief about what had just happened. It was pretty awesome.

“I was on my way to go crab raking with my family, and came around the headland and we saw something large in the water.

“We initially thought it was a shark but couldn’t quiet believe it, so I put my drone up and confirmed it was in fact a shark.

“I’m unsure on how long it was there for, but I can confirm I was down there the night before until around 6pm and it wasn’t there that I could see.

“After flying my drone for a period of time, I saw three local guys wading out to help the shark and thought me and Parker would go down and give them a hand.

“From the time we spotted the shark to the time it was back out in deeper water took around 45 minutes to an hour.”
