This is the heartwarming moment students cheered when a rescue team saved a kitten trapped on a hotel roof for four days in northern Thailand.

Footage shows youngsters breaking out into raucous applause as a volunteer plucked the black moggie from the fifth-storey roof of the Phuthong Place Hotel in Phayao on May 30.

The officer had rappelled from the rooftop to reach the hapless feline. The operation took two hours as the shingled roof some 70 feet above the ground was slippery from rain, he said.

Teachers from the school across the hotel called the rescue team after seeing the kitten stuck in the same spot for four days.

A teacher named Beer has volunteered to take care of the critter.

She said: 'We waited and hoped its mother would return, but when that didn't happen, we had to ask for help. We are grateful for the rescuers for being so patient in saving it.'
