CENTENNIAL, Colo. — A quick-thinking lieutenant helped reunite a lost dog with its owner after a surprising encounter near a busy intersection.

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, Lt. Anselmi was stopped at a red light on E. Arapahoe Road near S. Dayton Street when he spotted a dog running into traffic. After pulling over to check on the animal, the dog unexpectedly leapt into the front seat of his patrol vehicle.

The dog, named Bossco, had no collar. Centennial Animal Services was called and quickly located his owner. Officials said Bossco had escaped from his yard and decided to go for an unsupervised walk. Thankfully, he was uninjured and is now home safe.
