WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A traffic stop turned into an impromptu — and ill-advised — foot race this week, ending in the arrest of a man with two active warrants.

According to Westminster police, an officer attempted to stop the driver after witnessing him run a red light at 100th Avenue and Wadsworth Parkway. Instead of complying, the man pulled into a parking lot and challenged the officer to a foot race.

The suspect quickly lost the race and was taken into custody. Police said he was found with drug paraphernalia and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on multiple charges in addition to his outstanding warrants.
