Storyline: Int'l tourists go on electronics shopping binge in southern Chinese tech hub [Voice_over] The Huaqiangbei electronics market in southern China's Shenzhen City is seeing a new crop of clientele lately. Formerly serving mainly wholesale buyers, now more individual tourists are stopping by the multi-floor shopping center to stock up on low-cost electronics before their vacation ends. This couple walked out of the market with things like electric fans, headphones and facial care devices. [Sound_bite] Mary, Australian shopper: "The variety of the products is very interesting for us. I just can compare these [products'] prices with [those in] other centers. It's cheaper and reasonable price as well." [Sound_bite] Saleswomen: "Previously, international visitors to Huaqianbei are mainly foreign trade merchants, but now we are seeing increasing tourists. They come here to buy gifts or just to buy goods for themselves." [Voice_over] At the end of April, the city launched the "one order, one bag" pilot program to streamline the departure tax refund process, wherein purchases and tax refund forms are packed together in the same sealed bag. The program has been launched at three malls in the city. Authorities say the procedure is expected to cut inspection time by more than 50 percent. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
