A passenger threw an embarrassing tantrum rolling around the ground - because her hand luggage was too heavy to take onboard.

The Chinese tourist had reached the boarding gate when staff checked her carry-on suitcase at the Milan Malpensa Airport in Italy on June 8.

They told her to pay extra or throw away some of the contents, sparking an allmighty meltdown in front of astonished travellers.

Footage shows the middle-aged traveller sobbing and wailing like a child, gesturing angrily at staff.

Authorities attempted to defuse the situation, but she remained uncontrollable. They eventually removed her from the flight and she rebooked a new ticket once she had calmed down.

An onlooker said: ‘This Chinese mother had the mother of tantrums at Milan Airport. Her cultural skills were not successful in negotiating with the airport staff.'
