Terrified girl stands on kitchen counter when gecko appears on floor
This is the hilarious moment a terrified woman stood on a kitchen counter after spotting a gecko on the floor.
Ying Saisamorn and her brother were about to have dinner when she noticed the lizard scurrying across the ground in their home in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand.
Upon seeing the reptile, she immediately jumped onto the counter, screaming in fear on May 17.
Her brother rushed into the room after hearing the commotion, only to find his panicked sister watching the gecko as it munched on a bug.
Footage shows the man attempting to grab the creature by its tail, only for it to detach and continue wiggling on the floor, sending Ying with another burst of terror.
Moments later, he used tongs to pick up the now motionless gecko and playfully teased his sister by lifting it closer to her.
After the prank, he stepped outside and released the unexpected guest into their backyard.
Ying said: 'I was very scared, so I jumped on the counter and just cried. I don't like geckos and this one was so big.'
Geckos shed their tails in a defence mechanism known as autotomy, allowing them to escape predators. The detached tail continues to wriggle, distracting the threat while the gecko makes its getaway.
