Artist demonstrates water surface marbling art technique
This is the stunning moment an artist created patterns on satin silk using a water surface marbling art technique.
Footage shows the craftsman swiping a large wooden comb over floating colourful pigments in a tray in Ratchaburi, Thailand.
He swiped the tool several times in different directions until the colours formed a zigzag pattern, before swirling the pigments again to create wavy and feathery shapes.
After preparing the distinct patterns, the man carefully laid a white cloth onto the surface and gently lifted it, with the fabric completely absorbing the hypnotic patterns.
Once lifted, the material was rinsed and dried, preserving the marbled design.
Marbling is an ancient decorative art technique that involves creating patterns by floating pigments on the surface of a liquid, then transferring those patterns onto paper, fabric, or other materials.
