A taxi driver narrowly avoided a crash when he pulled out in front of an oncoming truck on a busy highway.

Dashcam footage shows the white vehicle emerging from a side street and turning directly into the path of a six-wheeler in Cebu, the Philippines.

The car quickly swerved into the next lane, dodging a collision with the speeding delivery truck on May 20.

Both road users managed to slow down safely, along with other motorists who witnessed the close call.

Steven Plaza, who was driving behind when it happened, said: ‘We were travelling from the southern part of Cebu when, midway through our trip, we approached an intersection.

‘I saw a car crossing ahead, and although it was still some distance away, I anticipated that the taxi behind it might suddenly try to cut through as well.

‘So I slowed down as a precaution. However, I noticed a heavily loaded truck speeding on the opposite lane, which made the situation even more dangerous.

'I decided to stop completely, fearing the taxi might get clipped and we might get caught in the accident.'

‘Thankfully, the taxi narrowly avoided a collision by just a hair's breadth, and we managed to avoid what could have been a serious accident.'
