-TUNISIA - JUNE 19, 2025: Activists traveling in the Gaza-bound Maghreb Resistance Convoy were welcomed back in Tunisia on Thursday night, June 19, after they were denied entry into eastern Libya. The convoy -- made up of roughly 2,000 activists from Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania and Libya -- departed Tunisia’s capital on Monday, beginning a land journey toward the Gaza Strip to break Israel's siege of the Palestinian territory, and arrived in Libya on Tuesday. However, authorities in eastern Libya refused to allow the convoy to enter the city of Sirte, which is under the control of Khalifa Haftar. The convoy had stated that some activists were detained, allegedly for recording videos containing remarks deemed insulting to officials in Benghazi.
