United States - June 15, 2025 On June 15, 2025, a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper stopped a white Lexus on US 57. The driver refused to give consent for a search. A U.S. Border Patrol K-9 was brought in and alerted to the vehicle’s trunk. Inside, officers discovered two illegal immigrants from Nicaragua. The driver claimed they were his cousins and said “they wanted to go back there.” Joshua Souza of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and passenger Loren Garza of Killeen, Texas, were arrested. Both were charged with two counts of smuggling of persons. U.S. Border Patrol took custody of the two individuals found in the trunk.
