Due to continuous rainfall, at 7:30 am on June 24, the water level in the river at Changmei Township, Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County, Guangxi, rose sharply. A minibus crossing a bridge became trapped by the surging floodwaters and was swept off the bridge. Fortunately, all passengers were evacuated in time, and no casualties occurred.

That day, the minibus—designed to carry 19 people and carrying 10—was heading to Jinchengjiang. As it crossed a submerged bridge, sudden torrential floodwaters from upstream caused the engine to stall. The driver promptly organised a quick evacuation of all passengers. Half an hour later, the now uncontrollable minibus was swept into the river by the flood.

Upon receiving the report, local government staff from Changmei Township quickly took action, sealing off the submerged bridge and other risky river-adjacent bridge sections, and placing warning tape at both ends of the bridge. Staff also conducted continuous river patrols and promptly alerted nearby residents to remain vigilant and take precautions to ensure their safety.

The local meteorological department has forecast continued heavy rainfall in the Huanjiang area, urging residents to stay alert and avoid dangerous areas.
