Bank branch! Resident uses wonky ATM with uprooted tree balancing on top
A resident was seen trying to use a tilted ATM that was pushed sideways by the weight of an uprooted tree resting on top of it.
The woman was pictured making a withdrawal from the damaged cash machine, which was still operational despite its slanted position following a storm in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 29.
Emergency workers arrived on Monday morning to remove the branches and repair the damaged shelters, operated by Siam Commercial Bank and Kasikorn Bank.
Surprisingly, the machines remained functional even after being displaced until officials cut the power for safety during the cleanup.
Resident Sudarat Sriban said: 'I stopped at the machine to withdraw money for food this morning, but I was scared to try and use it. Other people were able to take out money though.
'It happened because there was a big stom in the night. A few trees were blown over.'
The massive hardwood destroyed nearby concrete and leaned against a wall, which later collapsed but no one was hurt.
Authorities sawed the trunk into sections and loaded the debris into a truck for disposal. Some locals requested pieces of the branches to replant at home.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
