Lecherous taxi driver asks Thai passenger to 'pay with her body' in South Korea
A lecherous taxi driver sparked outrage over his alleged sexual harassment of a Thai female tourist in South Korea.
The cabbie reportedly used a translation app to tell his passenger, 28, she could 'pay the fare with her body' while driving her to a train station in Seoul on June 16.
Footage shows the suspected pervert chuckling creepily as he spoke with the shocked woman, with the words displayed on the smartphone.
The terrified holidaymaker, who had been travelling solo in the Far East, said she was forced to laugh off her discomfort when he started asking her inappropriate questions like why she was not married and whether she had a boyfriend.
He invited her to sit next to him before proposing to find her a job in South Korea, saying: 'It is not hard. You just need to clean rooms.'
Upon learning the Thai woman was headed to Busan some 200 miles away, he offered to drive her there himself, disturbingly telling her: 'If you don't have enough for the fare, you can pay with your body.'
When they finally reached Seoul train station, the driver gave her his number and asked when she would be coming back.
The Thai woman, who declined to be named, said she has reported the driver to the taxi company Kakao.
She said: 'We're waiting for the app to handle it. If you're travelling alone, I really recommend using a ride-booking app.
'It shows the driver's details and license plate number. If anything happens, you can report it through the app or even take the driver's information to the police.'
Verbal sexual harassment is not currently classified as a criminal offence, despite being common in South Korea.
