Girl arrives at prom in an ambulance - and is wheeled out on a stretcher
A teenager stunned her classmates by turning up to prom in an ambulance - before being wheeled out on a stretcher.
Cleona-Rea Allen, 16, wanted to do something truly "iconic" to mark the end of her time at school. "
Videos show the teen pulling up to Bescot Stadium, Walsall, in a flashing ambulance with sirens blaring, to the cheers of her peers on June 20.
Cleona-Rea hired the vehicle from J&B Medical & Security Services, a private company which provides ambulances for festivals and raves.
She paid £100 - discounted rate from the usual £300 thanks to a family connection.
The school leaver said: "I just thought it would be fun and iconic."
"I did it because I thought it would be something everyone is going to remember me for, now we've left school." "
The entrance received a mixed response from other prom attendees.
"People thought it was really funny," she said. "There were some that were like 'why would you do that', but it was just a bit of fun."
"It was so funny because some people I really didn't get on with at school were standing next to it, watching me getting pulled out, and it was so funny to see their reaction."
The journey from her home in Aldridge to the venue was only a few minutes, and the lights and sirens were switched on only as they approached the venue gates.
"It was cool to have the lights flashing but we didn't have them on the whole time," she said."
"It wouldn't exactly be legal to do that because it wasn't actually an emergency."
She was then wheeled out by a paramedic, with a little help from her brother, much to the amusement and surprise of other attendees.
The unique entrance made Cleona-Rea stand out from her peers, with majority arriving in limos or flashy cars.
"One of my best friends came in her dad's truck but everyone else came in fancy cars so I was a bit different," she said."
Cleona-Rea joked that luckily she didn't need the ambulance for its actual purpose, since she described having an "amazing" time at the event. "
"I'm very glad I didn't actually need it," she laughed. "
"I was honestly dancing like there was no tomorrow. I had a really nice up-do in my hair and by the end of the night it was a ponytail."
This comes as British teens increasingly try to outdo each other with wild prom arrivals, including turning up on cows, in Waitrose delivery vans, and even in coffins.
