On July 8, in a badminton sports equipment store in Bengbu, Anhui, a badminton racket placed on the counter suddenly exploded due to the extreme heat and bounced up, striking a man nearby on the head.

The main reason for a badminton racket "exploding" in high temperatures is that the heat causes structural changes in the materials inside the racket, leading to deformation or breakage.

Badminton rackets are primarily made of carbon fibre, which is formed by layering carbon fabric, then heating and pressing it, with resin glue used as an adhesive.

While carbon fibre itself is heat-resistant, the resin glue can undergo secondary oxidation at high temperatures, causing the internal microstructure of the racket to become brittle. This brittleness weakens the bonding strength between materials, making the racket more prone to deformation or breakage.
