Los Angeles, United States - July 08, 2025 07/07/2025 10:12 pm GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A major gas main break disrupted a portion of Santa Clarita’s Canyon Country community Monday night, prompting a swift response from Los Angeles County firefighters and sheriff’s deputies. The incident occurred shortly before 10:15 p.m. in the 17800 block of Sierra Highway, where a contract crew using heavy equipment accidentally ruptured an underground gas main. Firefighters confirmed the pipe had been severed, releasing natural gas into the area. As a precaution, authorities shut down a two-block section surrounding the site while crews assessed the situation. Though no buildings were evacuated, sheriff’s deputies restricted access and were not allowing anyone to enter the affected area. By 11:40 p.m., the closures remained in place as gas company technicians worked to contain the leak and begin repairs. No injuries were reported.
