At 5:40 a.m. on 11 June, a fire broke out at the Guangyi recycling station in Jichang Village, Dongfeng Town, Zhongshan, Guangdong. The blaze was intense, with thick smoke billowing from the site.

When fire engines arrived, they found their only access road blocked by two illegally parked private cars, despite clear no-parking signs along the stretch.

Traffic police urgently contacted the car owners—one vehicle was moved, but the other owner could not be reached. With the fire escalating, more than a dozen residents, many in pyjamas and slippers, spontaneously gathered and worked together to lift and move the obstructing vehicle, creating an emergency passage for the fire trucks.

By 6:30 a.m., the fire was under control. After a thorough search and rescue, it was confirmed that no one was trapped or injured.

The Dongfeng Town Emergency Management Bureau issued a statement noting that the vehicle involved had illegally occupied the road, seriously obstructing fire response efforts. Authorities will hold the car owner legally accountable.
