"Captain Jack" Eustice legacy (Good audio) fifth generation farm enterprise, Halwyn, Crantock,Cornwall,UK
Will Eustace, the fifth generation of a Cornish farming dynasty, has created an impressive and unique leisure destination on the edge of Crantock, Halwyn.
In 1944 “Captain Jack” Eustace began the story by buying a farm at Crantock in North Cornwall. Now, Will, who has been working as a Chartered surveyor in London, has brought his dream project to fruition. Returning to the countryside and utilising his skill and vision to create a fine rustic dining experience, state-of-the-art golf driving range, and a rather beautiful crazy golf course. The Combination of Feasting Barns, 15 Bay Trackman Driving Range and Mini-Golf are all crafted on the Eustice Family Farm in Crantock, on the North Cornish Coast.
The restaurant is led by head chef Matthew Haggath. a man with experience at The Savoy Grill and The Idle Rocks Hotel in Cornwall. It is possible to glimpse award-winning cattle, in the provision chain, grazing within sight of the barns, brought on by cousin Tim Eustice.
Securing finance for such a project, especially for a first-time developer, can be a significant challenge. The combination of a leisure business, commercial development, and start-up model made it an unconventional case for most traditional lenders.
The project secured funding through the help of Bricks Finance and ASC Finance for Business. Conrad Robins and Jeannie Cain from ASC introduced the project and worked alongside Nicholas Shepherd of Bricks Finance, who took a “flexible and merit-based” approach to underwriting.
Shepherd said: “We are proud to have supported Will’s vision and look forward to seeing Halwyn thrive as a significant addition to Cornwall’s tourism and hospitality sector.”
The venue is fully open now and spearheads a new chapter for the Eustice family.
