Venezuela: Venezuela’s notorious Petare neighborhood gains new reputation for cycling

CARACAS, VENEZUELA - RECENT, JULY 2025: Petare, a neighborhood in eastern Caracas mostly associated with high crime, is now drawing notice for its growing cycling scene, part of a broader initiative to engage youth and foster community change through sport. Commonly known for its criminal activities, the neighborhood is home to young people competing on bike tracks to showcase their skills. Recent footage shows a group of young Venezuelans challenging the limits of adrenaline and physics as they raced on their bikes, performing breathtaking stunts. Athletes of various age groups took part in the event, which was held on a challenging course stretching approximately 2 kilometers.
