Los Angeles, United States - July 22, 2025 07/21/2025 10:50 pm GMT-0700 NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles Police Department officers and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to a fatal traffic collision involving a bicyclist and a hit-and-run driver around 10:54 p.m. Monday in the 7800 block of Lankershim Boulevard. First responders found the bicyclist in grave condition and transported him to a nearby trauma center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Brian, a witness to the tragic incident that ultimately killed his friend, spoke to Key News Network on camera and said that he and a friend were crossing the street when they noticed what appeared to be a 4-door truck speeding down from McDonald's toward them. Brian said he was walking in the first lane, and his friend was riding his bike in the second lane when the truck struck his friend, throwing him around 10 to 15 feet into the air. While his friend was on the ground, the truck kept speeding down the street. Brian indicated the truck's direction with his arm as he spoke to KNN. Brian then turned his attention to his injured friend, who was bleeding from the back of his head. He called 911 after checking his friend's pulse and found it to be weak. He performed CPR on his friend, attempting to save his life; however, Brian said he was "touch and go" at that point. The SUV just kept going, Brian told KNN. He described the vehicle as a four-door silver truck with tinted windows. According to Brian, the front of the bumper was already damaged, and he estimated the truck was traveling around 80 miles per hour. Authorities are continuing to investigate the fatal collision and search for the truck and its driver.
