Phoenix, United States - July 23, 2025 07/23/2025 03:04 pm GMT-0700 SURPRISE, Ariz. – Just after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Surprise firefighters, Arizona Fire Department and Medical, and Surprise police responded to reports of a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of West Grand Avenue and Town Centre Parkway. When officers arrived, they discovered at least four vehicles with severe damage and at least two people trapped inside, requiring extrication by rescue personnel. Command quickly transitioned the response from a vehicle collision to a rescue operation. At least three individuals were transported to local hospitals in unknown condition. Surprise police and the Arizona Department of Transportation assisted in shutting down one lane on West Grand Avenue while rescuers attended to the patients. Two tow trucks were quickly brought in to clear the road, as a major backup had formed on one of the city's busiest roads for at least an hour. It remains unclear if impairment or speed played a role in the crash.
