This is the dramatic moment an angler wrestled with a young nurse shark that was caught on the coast of Australia.

Sbn Stendo was fishing with friends at Coffs Harbour in New South Wales when he hooked the juvenile shark on July 31.

Footage shows him battling to reel in the thrashing catch as it fought against the line.

A second man then reached between the rocks to pull the marine animal ashore, pinning it down with his knee before carefully removing the hook from its mouth.

The angler said: 'Nice view, nice catch.'

Sbn released the shark back into the ocean.

The Atlantic nurse shark is classified as a vulnerable species under the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List. The shark is targeted or captured as bycatch in commercial and recreational fisheries. It is also hunted to be sold for the ornamental fish trade.

Nurse sharks are important to scientific research because they tolerate capture, handling, and tagging very well.

Despite their calm and sedentary nature, nurse sharks rank fourth in documented shark bites on humans, likely due to divers underestimating their potential danger.
