This is the amusing moment a family had an awkward encounter in a lift when they were joined by a cleaning robot.

Natalie Elias and her partner were inside the elevator when Primo, the delivery-cleaning bot, stepped onto the platform at an apartment complex in Bangkok, Thailand.

The robot can be heard saying: 'Wait on the elevator. Excuse me, please. Please give way.'

Footage shows the blue automaton rotating to face the doorway on August 1.

Natalie said in the video: 'Oh, wait. I think it's asking for space?' She then began inching to the side of the lift.

The machine replied: 'It's nice riding the elevator with you.'

Natalie recalled that the polite robot had just come in after finishing a delivery for a tenant.
