This is the hilarious moment a family celebrated the New Year by pointing out the uncanny resemblance between a mother and the family dog.

Ralph Fabroa and his family were enjoying a New Year's Eve gathering in Catbalogan, the Philippines, when they began teasing his sister, Roxann, about her striking likeness to their pet.

Footage shows Mata, the Aspin pooch, lying on the ground while Ralph playfully holds its face to the camera to show its eyes, one of which is fully closed while the other is normal on December 31.

His relatives laugh as they gather around the table, preparing to have supper.

Ralph then pans the camera to Roxann, who bursts into laughter after realising that her brother was recording her right after the canine.

Ralph said: 'Even before the New Year, my mother wanted me to film them because they both have a similar 'one eye' look.

'We were just vibing and having a laugh. I wasn't really in the mood to film until the party started.

'While we were taking family photos, I suddenly decided to take a video comparing the two of them just for fun. There was no bad intention, we just wanted to have a laugh together to start the year.'
