A British motorbike rider was fined for allegedly deliberately blocking an ambulance in Thailand.

Paul Dennis Holloway, 58, reportedly cut in front of the medical vehicle as it was racing through Thepprasit Road in Pattaya during an emergency.

Dashcam footage shows the Brit, from Hastings, overtaking the ambulance at an intersection in the early hours of Monday morning.

When the driver honked and activated the sirens signalling to make way, Paul defiantly flipped a middle finger before driving erratically across the road. He was seen speeding away but fell over after crashing into a local motorcycle rider.

Police arrived and detained the suddenly meek Brit, who was said to have been 'visibly shaken' by the collision. He apologised and promised to pay for damages, claiming he 'was startled by the ambulance siren'.

Authorities said no one was injured from the crash.

A rescue worker said: 'At 4:30 am, rescuers received a report of an unconscious drowning victim and went to the scene to transport the patient to a nearby hospital.

'During the journey on Thepprasit Road, the British man rode his chopper motorcycle and cut in front of the ambulance despite the driver honking the horn and turning on the siren.'

A Pattaya City Police spokesman said Paul was fined for reckless driving.

Former fishing village Pattaya has become one of the world's biggest tourist destinations - the Amsterdam of Asia due to its round-the-clock sex industry and legalised cannabis.
