This is the heartwarming moment a woman surprised her mum with a money fan.

Ma Loriedel Diaz and her family celebrated her mother, Lorena Diaz's 49th birthday with a dinner at Ayala Malls Vermosa in Cavite, the Philippines.

Footage shows Loriedel handing the thick red paper fan to the unsuspecting celebrant during their meal on July 21.

Lorena can be seen setting down her plate before reaching out and taking the fan with a bright smile.

She spread it open, fanning herself, and joked: 'This might just be envelopes.'

Her children then asked her to look at the other side, revealing rows of 500-peso bills arranged inside the folding cooling device.

Overcome with surprise and delight, she gasped sharply as she stared at the cash.

Loriedel said: 'I even told my mum that we didn't have any gifts for her and just invited her out to dinner. She smiled and said it was fine as long as we were all together.

'She was genuinely happy, even if the gift wasn't much — because for her, it's the love and presence that matter most.

'I'm also grateful to my siblings because we all chipped in for the surprise.'
