This is the dramatic moment dozens of parked cars were swept into a river as heavy rain pounded China.

The intense downpour caused the river in Yuzhong, Gansu, to overflow, with the raging current washing away nearby vehicles.

CCTV footage shows floodwaters carrying sedans, minivans, and compact SUVs downstream in less than two minutes on August 8.

China frequently experiences heavy rainfall and storms during the summer monsoon season, with southern and central regions often hit by flash floods and severe downpours.

At Xinglong Mountain, rainfall reached 220.2 millimeters, the highest level on record for the area. Swollen riverbanks gave way, sending powerful torrents crashing into streets.

Meteorologists described the event as exceptionally rare, noting that such extreme precipitation had never been recorded in the region before.
