This is the amusing moment a passerby carried a runaway giant tortoise back to its owner's home.

The kindhearted local was walking around the neighborhood when he spotted Nong Tong Ngen, the hefty Sulcata tortoise, wandering along the roadside in Phetchabun, Thailand.

He immediately contacted the pet owner, Piyachaya Chaiwong, and helped return the reptile to her yard on August 10.

Piyachaya said: 'Nong Tong Ngen often goes out to visit her sister nearby. I'm glad he saw my pet, though it usually comes back on its own after its stroll.'

The Sulcata tortoise, or African spurred tortoise, is a large, heavy-bodied reptile native to the southern Sahara. Known for its burrowing behavior, herbivorous diet, and impressive adult weight of 70–150 lbs (32–68 kg), it can live 50–70 years and grow up to three feet long.
