Two easyJet planes collided this morning at Manchester Airport, sparking chaos as flights were cancelled.

The pair of Airbus A320s were taxiing to the runway when their wings clipped shortly after 6:30am. One of the planes was bound for Gibraltar while the other was about to take off for Paris.

Footage shows one of the damaged aircraft returning to the gate. A number of flighst were cancelled, causing chaos for thousands of passengers.

Officials have launched an investigation into how the planes collided and why they were so close to each other.

An easyJet spokesman said: 'EasyJet can confirm that two aircraft came into contact whilst taxiing to the runway at Manchester Airport.

'The aircraft returned to stand to disembark customers who have been provided with refreshment vouchers whilst replacement aircraft are arranged to operate the flights.

'We apologise to customers for the delay to their flights. The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority'.
