Plane delayed for six hours when cabin crew start FIGHTING
A plane was delayed for six hours when two members of the cabin crew started fighting before taking off.
Sky Angkor Airlines flight ZA679 was already taxiing to the runway at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok to leave for Phnom Penh on January 17 when two women were heard shouting.
Footage shows worried passengers in their seats while a female voice furiously yells. There was an alarm chiming before the pilot spoke on the intercom.
The pilot said: 'Ladies and gentlemen, please be calm. Buckle up, please.'
A loud pounding on the wall was heard from behind the cockpit while all the passengers remained seated while trying to lean over to the aisle to check what was happening.
The cause of the fight onboard the Airbus A320 between the stewards, who were both Khmer nationals, was unclear. However, low-cost carrier Sky Angkor Airlines, which only has six planes in its fleet, said they are conducting a thorough investigation.
The Cambodia-based airline said: 'The incident arose as a result of a dispute between the two flight crew.
'Consequently, in the interest of the safety of all passengers, appropriate action was taken to replace the flight with a new aircraft and flight crew.'
The flight was scheduled to leave Bangkok a little past 9pm and arrive at its destination in the neighbouring country in under an hour.
However, the aircraft was able to leave and it it was forced to return to the gate.
It took the airline six hours to find replacements for the two crew members who fought and were kicked off the plane before the flight finally landed in Phnom Penh at 3:53 am.
The airline added: 'To minimise the inconvenience to our passengers, we provided meals and beverages, and during the return journey, our Managing Director personally extended his apologies to each passenger and offered individual compensation.
'Sky Angkor Airlines has conducted a thorough investigation to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, including taking appropriate measures against the two flight crew members involved.'
The airline promised to strengthen its training programs after the incident.
It added: 'Furthermore, we are strengthening training programs for relevant departments to ensure passenger safety and improve service quality.
'We sincerely apologize for any concern or inconvenience caused to our passengers. At Sky Angkor Airlines, please be assured that safety remains our top priority.'
